These Neostyle glasses are definitely 1973. They
were used by an optician to show how fashion had
changed since the mid 1960's. Each model showed
a brand new frame and then a mid 1960's frame,
the latter receiving the label "outdated". These glasses
were the nicest of the new frames and I always kept
them in mind. I don't remember ever seeing them in
the streets, but fifteen years later I found this pair at
the Amsterdam flea market. Once more, eyeware
fashion was changing rapidly and everyone went for
small retro glasses, throwing out the big glasses that
had dominated the seventies and early eighties. This
transition period provided a golden opportunity to
fill in some gaps in my collection. The seventies were
a glamorous decade for eyeware. There are some signs
that bigger frames are getting popular again. Can't wait....
