Marleen in 1980's Rodenstock glasses from Wales.
I like the askance look here.
The unsolved mystery about this series is that
three of the six glasses in the bag worked out fine
for Marleen and the other three glasses did not
work. She was quite direct in her reaction and as
the Rx of all six glasses is identical, I am still puzzled!

These Lygo glasses were in a bag containing half
a dozen glasses in almost exactly the same Rx when
I came across them in a hospitable charity shop in
Wales, some ten years ago. Three "Oh, what can the
matter be" ladies in perms let me partake of their
advice when selecting glasses for the collection, but
when I opened the bag with these glasses, I said
straightaway, "I want them all!". The glasses, no doubt,
were bought - and subsequently disposed off - by a
blonde with enough cash to buy a lot of glasses, but she
lacked the finance to get the lenses equipped with anti-
reflective coating :). Outdated as they are, Marleen
gives them the sparkle they once had when bought by
their first owner

When I wrote the title track for my solo CD
"Crystal Veil" six years ago, the word "curtain"
was in the lyrics. Eye lashes can work quite
effectively as curtains and Marleen gives us a
perfect example

The lenses in these 1980's "Donna" Rodenstock
bifocals differ over two diopters and that's why
they worked well for Marleen who said she could
see well through them. The lens in front of her
left eye provides sharpness in the vertical direction
and the much stronger lens in front of her right eye
adds focus in the horizontal direction. Marleen is in
no shortage of brains, so her brains did the rest and
produced this beautiful portrait without cylinders
