Silhouette started designing and manufacturing
glasses in 1964. They made their breakthrough
in Holland in the early 1970's. I clearly remember
the first time I saw this frame in an advertisement
around 1972, promoting the new big frames and
encougaging ladies to replace their 1960's glasses.
Each advertisement was a double portrait with
the same model, looking unhappy with the cat eye
and other small 1960's frames - and of course,
looking delighted with the new big frames!
