There is a story attached to these "Bonn" bifocals.
Almost twenty years ago, I had a relation with an
Irish grandmother who was in her mid thirties.
She was a high hyperope and I noticed something
peculiar when she switched from looking in the
distance to reading. Her glasses were not bifocals
but she pushed them a centimeter or two from her
face when reading. I asked her why she did that and
she said, I can read better that way!
